“BXL x LDN Interplay” is a collaborative project between Brosella Festival and Tomorrow’s Warriors, now returning for its third year.
This cross-border jazz initiative connects London (LDN) and Brussels (BXL), with the aim of developing emerging talent, strengthening ties between the UK and Belgian jazz scenes, and fostering cultural exchange. At its core, the programme provides young artists with meaningful opportunities to collaborate and gain real-world performance experience.
This year’s ensemble recently completed an intensive three-day residency in Brussels (22–24 March) at Volta, a vibrant hub for musicians.
The residency culminated in their debut performance on 25 March at the Brosella Spring Festival, followed by a performance on 26 March at Muziekcentrum De Bijloke in Ghent.
The band brings together exciting emerging artists from both scenes. Representing the UK are Donovan Haffner (alto saxophone), Lauren Breen (tenor and soprano saxophone), and Christ-Stéphane Boizi (trombone). From Belgium, the group features Alice Sinophro (bass and vocals), Lorenzo Ola Kobina (keys), and Simon De Rover (drums).
This marks the beginning of a shared journey for the ensemble, who will continue to develop and perform together across a series of festivals through August. Upcoming performances include Brick Lane Jazz Festival (25 April), Jazz Middelheim (24 May), Brosella Festival (5 July), a performance at Vortex Jazz Club (21 August), and We Out Here Festival (22 August).
