#jazznewbloodALIVE2020 Showcase continues the mission of celebrating new Jazz talent under 24.

In its 5th edition, we present a diverse and balanced line-up of young emerging artists performing they own original music. Morgan Wallace, Manny and Scottie Thompson are exceptional artists coming from programs like Tomorrow´s Warriors, Junior Jazz Guildhall and NYJO. They are part of the talent coming out next! #jazzfuturenow

>>>MORGAN WALLACE

Morgan Wallace is a young saxophonist and composer, originally from South London. Growing up in Devon, she took up the clarinet aged eight, moving on to the saxophone at fourteen, and went on to play in Roz Harding's group the Jambassadors. As a participant on the acclaimed Young Artist Development Programme at Tomorrow’s Warriors, she learnt under the mentorship of Binker Golding, Alex Davis and others. However during lockdown she returned to Devon. Back there she practised, ironically, in one of her friends sheds. Her influences include saxophonists Ornette Coleman and Wayne Shorter, but she has also been inspired by Brad Meldhau, Jeff Buckley and Miles Davis. This year she goes into her second year at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

Brought up in the bustling London jazz scene, singer songwriter and guitarist, Manny, grew up on the sounds of bebop, Ella Fitzgerald and Motown. Up and coming in jazz circles, her music education began with NYJO, Tomorrow’s Warriors and later Julian Joseph’s Academy. After leaving London to attend Warwick University, she returns 3 years later with a style that incorporates her jazz upbringing with newer sounds and melodies of alternative R&B and neo-soul, naming H.E.R, Raveena and Snoh Aalegra as some of her main influences.

>>>SCOTTIE THOMPSON

Scottie Thompson is a pianist and composer from Portsmouth. He has spent the past two years attending Junior Guildhall, and is currently in his first year on the jazz course at the Royal Academy of Music. He enjoys a wide range of music, and his influences stem from many genres, from jazz and classical to electronic and hip hop.
