A triple bill to include sets by pianist Roella Oloro, trumpeter Ife Ogunjobi, and pianist Noah Stoneman.
Into its third edition, #jazznewbloodALIVE2018 returns to its mission of showcasing original jazz and improv influenced sounds composed by some of the most talented young musicians in the London scene.
Expect to see #jazzfuturenow on our stage with a balance diverse and gender-sensitive program. This year will also feature exciting new music and some premieres to be registered for on our #jazznewbloodALIVE compilation, traditionally released at the following #jazzday. Our photo exhibition will be dedicated to the amazing talent development program - Tomorrow's Warriors - with photos from Patricia Pascal and Steve Funkyfeet.
PART I (2.30PM/5PM)
(PREMIERE) ROELLA OLORO, a young talented pianist and composer, member of Tomorrow's Warriors Female Collective, presently studying at Trinity Laban. Her future is bright and she might be departing to the USA after recently receiving a full scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music. She will be presenting new original music composed for this occasion.
NOAH STONEMAN was a finalist in the recent BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year. Only 18, he's one of the youngest and most talented composers and players in the youth scene. His songs are frequently performed with Alexandra Ridout band (2016 BBC Young Jazz Musician of the year) and his project Zeñel (picked as a group to watch for 2018 by Jazzwise Magazine).
(PREMIERE) IFE OGUNJOBI is a talented young trumpet coming out of the Tomorrow's Warriors family. Lately, you can catch him playing with Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra or Moses Boyd Exodus. He's leading his own band for us and presenting for the first time some of his original music.
Doors open at 2.00pm, concert starts at 2.30pm with space for turn around between sets,
